Obituary for Maynard Parr

Funeral services for Maynard Parr age 99 of Dodge, NE will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a public Wake Service on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge is handling the arrangements.

Maynard passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE.

Maynard Adam Parr was born on September 8, 1913 at Elgin, NE, the second of fourteen children, to John A. and Minnie (Vogel) Parr. The family lived near Petersburg, NE for five years, moved to Great Falls, MT for two years and then returned to Dodge. Maynard attended school in Dodge and worked as a farmhand prior to marriage. On April 12, 1939, he was united in marriage to Theresa Kreikemeier at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Monterey, rural West Point, NE. Maynard worked for Theresa’s dad, and on the Charlie Kaup farm near Webster, NE before moving to Omaha and working for Allied Mills. The family moved to a farm southwest of Snyder until 1963 when they moved to a farm northeast of Dodge. Maynard retired from farming in 1978 and moved into Dodge, NE.

Maynard was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Theresa on March 26, 2002, four brothers-Sylvester, John, Denis and Anthony, and five sisters- Marie Meister, Marcella Greco, Sr. Magdalen Parr, Viola Stuehmer and Frances Parr.
